The front porch — where residents start most mornings.
Located in South Tacoma, Gihon Springs AFH is a licensed adult family home that goes beyond routine personal care. We serve residents whose needs require more than standard support — and we meet them where they are, every single day.
With a maximum of 6 residents, our team knows each person deeply — their rhythms, their history, their preferences, and their goals. That intimacy is not possible in larger facilities. It is our greatest advantage.
Families who come to us are often exhausted, overwhelmed, and unsure who to trust. We understand that burden. Our job is to be the home you can finally stop worrying about.
Every resident receives an individualized care plan developed with their physician, family, and our care team — built around their specific diagnosis and goals.
Structured daily routines, behavioral support plans, and coordination with psychiatrists and mental health providers. We work within each resident's treatment plan.
Familiar environments, consistent caregivers, and evidence-based memory care techniques for residents with Alzheimer's, dementia, and mild cognitive impairment.
Individualized programming, skill-building activities, and coordination with DDA (Developmental Disabilities Administration) case managers and waiver services.
RN-delegated medication administration including psychotropic medications, careful documentation, and direct communication with prescribing providers.
Three home-cooked meals daily, assistance with all activities of daily living, personal hygiene, and adapted routines based on each resident's abilities.
Regular family updates, care conference participation, open visiting policy, and direct communication with case managers, guardians, and support teams.
Our South Tacoma home is set up specifically for residents with complex needs — familiar, structured, and calm. Every detail of the environment is intentional, from room layout to outdoor access.
There are over 2,800 licensed adult family homes in Washington. Very few specialize in all three of our areas. Here is what families tell us sets us apart.
Mental Health, Dementia, and Developmental Disabilities. Most homes do one of these — or none. We built our entire program around residents who are hardest to place and who deserve the most care.
Smaller means better ratios, better consistency, and better outcomes for residents with complex needs. Your loved one is known by name, not room number. That's impossible at scale.
For residents with mental health or behavioral needs, familiar faces aren't a comfort — they're a clinical necessity. Our team knows each resident's baseline, triggers, and strengths.
Conveniently located in South Tacoma, we serve families across Pierce County. Close enough to visit often, professional enough to trust completely.
Margaret has been caring for residents in the Tacoma area for years. As Gihon Springs is welcoming new families, public reviews are still being gathered with care and consent. In the meantime, family references are available upon request — Margaret will personally connect prospective families with current ones so you can hear directly from people who have entrusted us with their loved ones.
Placement can be urgent. We respond quickly and work with families to find the right fit. Call us directly — we answer.
